Marseille

Yesterday I returned from a visit to Capgemini's office in Marseille. I went there along with two Dutch colleagues to see our open source support center, called OSSPartner. I didn't take any pictures inside, but I did take a few nice shots of the outside and the beach we had diner on.

Dancetour
Tuesday, 13 May 2008 02:00
Last weekend was (again) a long weekend for us with the Monday off. I did my Advance Finance exam on Sunday morning to make sure we could enjoy the rest of the weekend without study stress. The weather was magnificent, so we visited Dancetour, a free open air concert in Breda. Lots of friends also went and although it took me 2 hours to get the exam out of my head, it turned out to be a great day with good laughs. Party pics here.

Gates vs. Torvalds
Wednesday, 27 February 2008 07:11
Last Fall the Koning Willem I College in Den Bosch started a course for the second time to let their students experience the difference between Windows and Linux. The project called "Gates vs. Torvalds" requires students to compare both platforms and their applications based on a number of assignments. The video of the course's kick-off session has just come online, so for those of you that want to learn more on the subject, or want to see me present, click on the "read more" below to see it (Dutch presentation).

Mark Knopfler in concert
Monday, 31 March 2008 06:00
It was almost half a year ago that I got tickets for a Mark Knopfler concert for my birthday, held in the Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam. Until 10 years ago I was a big fan of Dire Straits, and still am, but I must admit I haven't followed Mark's music much since then. I was curious though whether his individual music and performance would be just as good. And it was.... almost. Some of the songs I remembered of one of his solo albums, like "What it is" and "Sailing to Philadelphia". He also played some Dire Straits which was of course very welcomed! But there were also a few songs I didn't know, songs that struck me as really country-style. Not really my thing, but given his credit with me, he got away with it :) Overall a pleasant Sunday evening with lots of excellent guitar play. Pictures here.

LTV Olympics
Sunday, 24 February 2008 19:34
Last weekend I participated in a tennis tournament at the local tennis club. It was a tournament set up as the Olympic Games, with China as organizers. Each team represented a self-selected country. Our (family) team was Faanteland, named after Raamsdonksveer at Carnaval. See here for some of the photos of the day.
